Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data Zentaris ("Zentaris", "we", "us") collects when you visit zentaris.net, message us, or sell a device to us, and how we use and protect it. We handle personal data in line with Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA).

1. Personal data we collect

• When you contact us: your name, phone number, WhatsApp or email messages, and photos or details of your device.
• When you sell a device: your full name, IC or passport number, contact number, the device's model, IMEI or serial number and condition, the agreed price, and your payment details (bank name and account number for DuitNow or transfer).
• When you visit the website: technical data such as pages viewed, buttons clicked, device and browser type, and approximate location, collected through cookies and analytics tools.

2. How we use it

• To answer your questions and give you a price quote.
• To arrange the meet-up, check the device and pay you.
• To keep a record of every device we buy, so we can show it was bought lawfully and help the police if a device is reported lost or stolen.
• To prevent fraud and the sale of stolen or blocked devices.
• To meet our legal, tax and accounting duties.
• To improve our website and service, and to measure our advertising.
• To send you offers or updates, only if you agree. You can say stop at any time.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only when needed:

• Service providers that run our website, email and analytics, such as Vercel, Google and Meta.
• Banks and payment services, to send your payment.
• The police, courts or other authorities, when the law requires it or to investigate a lost or stolen device.
• Professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers, under a duty of confidentiality.

Some of these providers store data outside Malaysia. We only use providers that protect data to a standard similar to the PDPA.

4. Data on the device you sell

Before we take your device, we ask you to back up your data, sign out of iCloud, Google and Samsung accounts, and erase the device. We do this together with you at the meet-up. We do not access, copy or keep photos, messages, accounts or other content from devices we buy. Any content left on a device after the sale is erased before the device is resold.

5. Cookies and tracking

Our website uses cookies and similar tools from Google Analytics and, if enabled, Meta Pixel. They tell us how visitors use the site and which buttons lead to WhatsApp enquiries. They do not tell us your name. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.

6. How we keep it safe

We limit access to personal data to people who need it, keep records in password-protected accounts, and delete what we no longer need. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data from loss, misuse or unauthorised access.

7. How long we keep it

• Purchase records (seller details, IC number, device IMEI, payment): up to 7 years, for legal, tax and police enquiries.
• Enquiries that did not lead to a sale: deleted within 12 months.
• Website analytics data: kept for up to 14 months in Google Analytics.

8. Your rights

Under the PDPA you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete data we no longer need, and withdraw consent for marketing. Email support@zentaris.net or WhatsApp 016-555 6638. We will reply within 21 days. We may need to check your identity first, and we cannot delete purchase records we must keep by law.

9. Age

We only buy devices from people aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18 without a parent or guardian's consent.

10. Other websites

Our site links to other services such as WhatsApp and Google Maps. Their own privacy policies apply when you use them.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated.

12. Language

This policy is available in English. If we publish a translation and there is any difference, the English version applies.
